About the Author

Carol A. Wolfson first came to china in 1981 as an exchange student from Northwestern University to Fudan University in Shanghai. She stayed on to work illegally as a Hong Kong trading house assistant and was deported in late 1982. She then slowly progressed her career from Evanston waitress-in-training to Oriental rug dealer, beltway bandit gopher, international business consultant, philanthropist and subservient wife. She now lives in Kuala Lumpur with her husband Michael Garvey and two beloved cats. Garvey knows better than to ever ask her to choose between them and him.
